All lunch money must be paid on line through www.myschoolbucks.com. If your child will ever eat hot/cold lunch in school, you must open an account on myschoolbucks.com. Every day that your child eats lunch, the money ($1.75 per day) will be deducted from your child’s account. An account must be opened for every child who eats hot/cold lunch. If you send lunch with your child every day, you do not need to open an account. You will need to know your school (PS 196 Grand Central Parkway), your child’s grade, their birth date, and student ID# (OSIS #- student 9 digit number)
If you have questions about the school lunch program, please contact our parent coordinator, Ellen Maurer (firstname.lastname@example.org). You can see the lunch menu by going to http://www.opt-osfns.org/osfns/. We use the “K-8 Alternative Lunch Menu.”
Students in grades K-2 may be eligible for free school bus transportation to and from school, depending on how far away they live from school. To get the latest information on bus schedules, stops, etc., please visit the Office of Pupil Transportation site at: http://www.optnyc.org/public1/default.aspx?logout=1 You will need your child’s student number (also called OSIS number), in order to get specific information on his or her route. For further questions about our school buses, please contact Ms. Beth Szabo at 718-263-9770, or Mrs. Ellen Maurer, our parent coordinator, at the same number or by email (email@example.com). Be in the Know—Sign Up for Notify NYC
There is now a valuable service for all New York parents—Notify NYC. This public notification program sends updates for emergency situations at school and other events that have an impact on the school day by phone, text message, or email to parents and guardians who sign up for the service. The service updates parents about delayed school openings and early dismissals, student relocations, and temporary school closures related to weather or other unexpected events. Parents and guardians can choose to receive alerts for up to five zip codes, and will receive notifications about schools within those zip codes. You can sign up either by visiting http://www.nyc.gov/notifynyc or by calling 311.
